MEZCAL FROM MORELOS
On August 9, 2018, an amendment to the Mezcal Designation of Origin (DOM) was published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, recognizing 23 municipalities in the state of Morelos as mezcal producers. The process to obtain the DOM took six years, even though Morelos has been producing mezcal for over 100 years. This recognition strengthens the region's cultural and economic identity.
Thanks to the efforts of Professor Lucía Emma Cazales Quintero, Morelos is now a proud producer of high-quality mezcal.
CAZALES DISTILLERY
The Cazales Distillery began operations in 2007 using its own Espadín agave crops grown in the municipality of Tlaquiltenango, selecting only ripe agave heads to produce a high-quality product.
Always prioritizing quality over quantity, the company strives to produce the finest mezcal through an artisanal process that involves cooking the agave hearts in a wood-fired oven and distilling them in copper stills to create a 100% agave product of the highest quality.
